We’ve been coming to the Squire Tarbox every year since we celebrated our wedding here in 2021. We usually visit around August/September, when the grounds are especially beautiful. On this last trip, we noticed everything was still in incredible shape, incredibly clean, thoughtful details, and gorgeous decorations throughout the inn, plus helpful amenities like water carafes and honor-bar items. We love exploring Wiscasset and Newcastle nearby. Plenty of shops, coffee spots, and restaurants if you spend time researching the area! Finding the right room is easy, we’ve stayed in all the rooms in the main house, and since only some are dog-friendly, we tend to gravitate toward Rooms 1 and 2, which are both spacious and comfortable. Though the team has changed over the years, we always feel at home here. Olga is such an amazing addition—so kind and friendly. She made a delicious breakfast and spent time getting to know everyone. The weather wasn’t great this time, or we would have walked to the marshes in the back, they’re stunning! We’ll be back next year. Thanks for the memories.

What a beautiful Inn! We had the pleasure of staying 1 night but will definitely be back! The room was cozy and comfy. There are beautiful, comfortable areas to sit and relax, read, have a coffee, tea or glass of wine inside and out. The breakfast was delicious. Especially the homemade blueberry cake! The hostess was warm and friendly making you feel right at home!

Check in went very smoothly with great communication prior to our arrival. Our hostess upon arrival gave us a friendly tour of the Inn, which was great. The room itself was clean, cozy and quaint with a very comfortable bed and bedding. Olga was fantastic in the morning, ensuring that my wife had a vegetarian option to start the day off! She was such a nice, friendly hostess. We would definitely stay here in the future and explore the acreage of the property more next time.

If you’ve ever fantasized about what it would be like traveling back in the day and arriving for a stay at a New England roadside inn, then the Squire Tarbox Inn will make that fanciful dream a reality. The inns 18th and 19th century interior and exterior architecture are authentic, maintaining the original colonial character, augmented with tasteful and thoughtful design concepts, that reflect the period. The trade off for maintaining authenticity is the quirkiness of the rooms, but that is part of the charm. That said, our room, the Mittman, was as comfortable and cozy as any five star hotel. What really sets the Inn apart are the public spaces and the grounds. As for location, while off the beaten path (a positive for us), the Inn is close to Wiscasset, Bath, Boothbay, Newcastle/Damriscotta, Pemaquid, etc. so it was a perfect place to explore and chill. We highly recommend the Squire, and do visit the little Tarbox family cemetery on the grounds.

Loved staying here. We came in the early fall when it was a little quieter. The spaces are so cozy and well designed. But the highlight of our stay was meeting Olga, who takes care of the inn. She was warm and welcoming, and made us feel so at home. She makes a cake for breakfast everyday and goes out of her way to mix it up so that if a guest is staying multiple days, they get to try a new cake everyday.

We stayed at The Squire Tarbox Inn for 3 nights in early September. Check in was done virtually and, though we arrived quite late, was smooth. Our room was cozy and clean and the grounds and common areas were so beautiful. Yes it is out of the way but that’s what we really loved about it. Olga was a delightful host and her homemade breakfasts were delicious. We will most definitely be back.

My fiancé and I stayed for a night, and it was wonderful! The property is gorgeous. The grounds are beautiful, with walking trails through the forest and down to the marsh. We loved all the unique spaces throughout the Inn and would love to visit again in the future!
